Actual Play Podcast

Mage Hand High Five is a multi-award winning, queer-led Actual Play adventure podcast. Join our nationwide gang of actors from Seattle to NYC as they delve into genres (and game systems) not normally explored in tabletop gaming.

Our first major campaign, “The Badlands,” is a fantasy western epic about a trio of outlaws searching for family and the nature of magic as they rebel against capitalist warmongers across a ravaged frontier. We’ve also had multiple smaller adventures using a range of indie systems, from the horror pastiche “Terror at Camp Craven” to the CRIT Award-nominated “Welcome to the Silly Goose Convention.”

Campaign 1: The Badlands

Our first major campaign, “The Badlands,” is a fantasy western epic using the mechanics of Dungeons and Dragons. Inspired by works like Stephen King’s Dark Tower and the Fallout games, it folows a trio of outlaws uncovering secrets on the ravaged frontier. Each of our heroes is fleeing a dark past and seeking a brighter future.

The three runaways find solace in each other as they search for family and uncover the nature of magic, all while rebelling against the capitalist warmongers chasing them to the ends of the earth…

  • Salome Briar

    (she/her)

    PALADIN/WARLOCK

Meet the runaway socialite fleeing her high-society prison in search of her family of healers out in the Badlands -- with her bustles, jewelry, some potent magic, and her husband's stolen revolver at her side.

  • Hayden Kincaide

    (they/them)

    RANGER

It's everyone's favorite shapeshifting bounty hunter! This coffee-fueled marshmallow has taken on the mantle of "The Stranger," a gunslinger for hire who takes on a different face for every job.

  • Stuhmp Steenling

    (he/him)

    ARTIFICER/ROGUE

This former thief turned family man knows firsthand how hard it is to be a wife guy when you're on the run. But Stuhmp still takes breaks from brewing potions and being corrupted by an evil amulet to collect special rocks for his little girl back home.

Well shit. It’s actually good, like really awfully good. I was like, sure, sure, I’ll listen, I’ll give it a try, and it will kind of suck and I’ll feel kind of bad for yet *another* group of people who figured out that if you just record your own DND sessions people will want to listen, and then I can say I did my duty and listened. And then it was really good and engaging and I will be listening to the whole thing, for sure.
